Gratitude

Lately I’ve been happy a lot, I find I smile more and easier, I greet almost everyone when I’m out and I compliment excessively. Often times I catch myself smiling for no reason and trust me the feeling is sublime. I’m tempted to think myself already successful because if you’d ask me what success meant to me, I’d say it’s happiness.

Ultimately happiness happens to be what we all pursue; it’s the treasure we’re seeking covered under layers and layers of goals. The good news is it’s not really that hidden and hard to find. I’ve discovered the secret to happiness is, you guessed right, gratitude.

Gratitude is a state of being grateful and conscious of our blessings. When you begin to be conscious of the many blessings God has blessed you with you’ll begin to appreciate life more, you’ll be content and happy. I’m not saying we don’t have insufficiencies and needs or want, yes life sucks at times but too often times we dwell on our inadequacies and forget our blessings. In a pursuit for happiness we easily neglect the (precious) moment and forget to be thankful, not knowing happiness is in appreciating and fully utilizing each moment we’re given no matter what circumstance. For what’s worth, I believe there are millions of people out there that would give anything to trade places with you.

Do you have a roof above your head, clothes to cover your nakedness and sound health? You have every reason to be happy and even if you don’t have any of these, if you’re reading this it means you’re alive; you have no idea how much of a blessing that is.  Remember, the adage ‘once there’s life there’s hope’. A grateful person is a happy person it’s a fact, maybe it’s because you begin to have a positive outlook on life; you become more optimistic and exude a positive aura. People and success as well, like to be around happy and grateful people.

So keep on pushing and grinding towards achieving your goals, never lose focus and while you’re at that, remember to be grateful. Who says we must wait to achieve everything before we can be happy? Happiness as well as misery is optional(thank God for that)!

Have a blessed week.
