7 health benefits of Avocados

They

Avocado is the fruit of the avocado tree with a characteristic green colour, a fleshy inside and a seed, which is discarded along with the peel. It can be eaten raw, or added to various other dishes due it’s rich taste.

It has become the favorite food for health conscious individuals especially the keto dieters, this is due to it’s highly nutritive value.

Avocados exist in different shapes and colours to suit various individual needs. My favourite is the pear-shaped-light-green variety called the Hass avocado but popularly referred to as ‘butter pear in Nigeria.

Avocados are very delicious and nutritious; they provide our bodies with a wide range of nutrients including 20 different vitamins and minerals. They do not contain cholesterol or sodium and are high in low or monosaturated (good) fats.

Here are some of the benefits of avocados:

1. They got more potassium than bananas!

Potassium helps maintain electrical gradients in our body cells. Studies have shown that high intake of potassium is linked to reduced blood pressure.

2. They are loaded with fibre, dang!

Fibre is a plant matter that can aid digestion, reduce blood sugar, constipation and lead to weight loss. It makes you feel fuller and reduces your likelihood of becoming hungry.

3. People who eat avocados are healthier, zing!

A study was conducted among individuals who eat avocados and those who don’t. Regular consumers of avocado were found to be much healthier than people who didn’t eat this fruit.

4. They are good for your eyes!

Studies show that they’re linked to drastically reduce risk of cataracts and macular degeneration which are common in older adult. Therefore eating more avocados benefit your eye health over the long term.

5. It’s weight loss friendly, asf!

Eating avocados helps you lose weight since they’re very high in fibre and low in carbs (two essential attributes for weight loss).😉

6. Excellent for your skin & hair!

Aside from it’s rich taste as food, this incredible fruit is very useful in adding protein and moisture to the skin and hair when applied directly on same. It’s a must have beauty ingredient for every lady as the natural oils in it are capable of penetrating deep into the skin and/or hair helping to soften and hydrate it. Mixing a ripe, peeled and smashed or blended avocado with 2 – 3 tbsp of olive or coconut oil and applying on hair before rinsing after 30 mins, has been found to make strands longer.

7. Avocados are good for I.Q amen!

Since monounsaturated fatty acids are crucial in maintaining a healthy Central Nervous System, avocados ranks high amongst the foods that can increase your cognitive function, hence making you smarter.

Now you know why I personally don’t joke with my avocados. So, if you wanna stay goofy, after forty you know what to do😀
